Velvet has many associations in the mind. Perhaps for you it is your first Christmas dress as a little girl -- the one you begged your mother to buy you, even though she said it was too expensive. Maybe you think of those old Hollywood movies with the grand parties and ballroom dancing, and all the lovely women in their beautiful gowns. For me, I think of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind", taking down the gorgeous velvet curtains of Tara to create one last fantastic frock to wear as the South burned around her.

Or, perhaps, you may just enjoy the dark. Coming home from a long day at work, maybe you might want to have a bath and relax, enjoy a glass of wine or two.
